2016 marks the first year of the implementation of the Thirteenth Five-year Plan. Guangdong provincial party committee and Guangdong provincial government have put forward for the first time the strategy of building “a province with strong public health program”, which marks that the public health program in Guangdong has entered a new era of development. To better implement the requirement of the strategy proposed by Guangdong provincial party committee and Guangdong provincial government and give full play to the advantages and function of industrial association, Guangdong Province Hospital Association held the Second Session of the 9th Representative Congress of Guangdong Province Hospital Association in Guangzhou from March 24 to March 25, 2016 & 2016 Academic Annual Conference.
  

The academic annual conference centered on the theme of how to build a province with strong public health program and discussed the opportunities and challenges that hospitals will face, which has built a learning and communication platform for member units. The annual conference invited Huang Fei, deputy director of the Health and Family Planning Commission of Guangdong Province as the guest speaker, who has made a wonderful interpretation of the public health policy in Guangdong. Dr. Zhu Hengpeng, Deputy Director of the Institute of Economics Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Director of the Public Policy Research Center was also invited as the guest speaker, who discussed with the participating guests the development of public hospital during the thirteenth-five year plan period from two aspects of policy interpretation and trend analysis.

The annual conference also witnessed the prize presentation of the 2015 “Sunny Cup” Excellent President of Canton Hospital. Mr. Liu Jianguo, the General Manager and Secretary of the Party Committee of Guangzhou Fuda Cancer Hospital was awarded Excellent President of Canton Hospital.

Award ceremony speech: being a master of scientific management, he has led the medical staffs of the hospital to build an internationalized, high-end and academic specialized cancer hospital with “3C+P” as the core treatment model for cancer, making it a banner of private hospital in Guangdong and China at large. He is the General Manager of Guangzhou Fuda Cancer Hospital.

It is reported that Guangdong Provincial Hospital Association has started the selection of "Sunny Cup" Excellent President and Excellent Management Staff of Canton Hospital since 2011. Every year, 15 excellent presidents and 20 excellent management staffs of canton hospital from the member units of Guangdong will be selected by employer reference, the agreement of the superior department, preliminary evaluation of Guangdong Provincial Hospital Association. The selection is designed to commend the management staffs in hospitals who are able to make innovation management and determined reform in the development course of hospital. It is also designed to encourage management staffs of canton hospitals to make continued contribution to improve medical service quality and management level.

Guangzhou Fuda Cancer Hospital, Beijing Genomics Institute Join Hands for Cancer Treatment

In the morning of March 16, 2016, Guangzhou Fuda Cancer Hospital and BGI (Beijing Genomics Institute) Group signed a Strategic Alliance Agreement with an aim of enhancing the cooperation between the two sides to make a breakthrough in performing accurate cancer treatment and implementing effective postoperative monitoring. BGI enjoys enormous advantages in the building and application of big platform while its research on diseases needs data support and intellectual support from hospital. The marriage between FUDA and BGI is of great importance to improve the cure rate of cancer and bring benefits to the society in the end.

Since its initiation in 1999, BGI has developed itself into the biggest genomic research center in the world. It has carried out research on over 12,000 samples of more than 20 types of cancer at home and abroad. At present, it has developed cooperation with more than 100 scientific research centers and more than 20 enterprises and institutions. It has launched research on birth defect, metabolic disease and malignant tumors. Hence, it hopes to cooperate with Fuda Cancer Hospital to launch Cross-Omics Plan on One Million Cases of Tumors so as to realize the calibration, qualitative determination, location, quantification, timing and strategy-making for tumors. 

Zhao Lijian, Vice President of BGI noted that conventional treatments for cancer, such as operation, chemotherapy, etc. cannot eliminate cancer radically. The scientific treatment method should be to identify the type of cancer from diagnosis and then analyze at the genetic level which drugs that are most suitable for the type of cancer diagnosis. “Beyond that, we hope to be able to identify the possibility of tumor recurrence and metastases by non-invasive gene test, which is easy in operation and low in cost.”

Xu Kecheng, Chief President of Guangzhou Fuda Cancer Hospital noted that over the past ten years, Fuda Cancer Hospital has been committing to treat advanced cancer--a difficult medical problem in the world with “3C+P” treatment model dominated by cryosurgical ablation (CSA), cancer microvascular intervention (CMI) and combined immunotherapy for cancer (CIC) with an aim of prolonging patients~ life and improving their quality of life. FUDA has been leading the world in terms of the number of cases and types of cancer that CSA has treated; FUDA has also made breakthrough achievements in treating central lung cancer, great hepatic carcinoma, and pancreatic cancer with CSA, which has won several awards for FUDA at home and abroad. In June, 2015, FUDA introduced NanoKnife equipment from America and carried out the first NanoKnife on pancreatic cancer in mainland China on July 2, 2015. As of now, FUDA has completed 100 cases of NanoKnife, the number of which ranks the first in China.

Xu Kecheng noted that Guangzhou Fuda Cancer Hospital has established its own cancer institute with its own scientific research team. FUDA-BGI strategic alliance allows experts on both sides to carry out concrete discussion on the cooperation vision and feasibility of the building and application of tumor sample data base, tumor detection at molecular level and the screening and early warning of high risk group by combining cancer high incidence scene and high-throughput sequencing.

From 26th to 27th February, Chinese Association for Promotion on Health Ideology and Culture Promotions-general Meeting in conjunction with Work Innovation Communication Meeting was convened at Guangzhou.The meeting was organized by Chinese Association for Promotion on Health Ideology and Culture and undertaken by Guangdong Province Association for Promotion on Health and Family Planning Ideology and Culture, which was supported by Jinan University Medical School Guangzhou Fuda Cancer Hospital. More than 200 leaders from Health and Family Planning Commission all over the country (absence of Tibet’s candidates), Association for Promotion on Health Ideology and Culture, branches, medical institutes of Guangdong Province and medical schools gathered at the meeting.]

Guangzhou Fuda Cancer Hospital Holding Free Clinic for Sending Health to Neighbor Residents

In the morning of 27th February, weather got nicer since it had kept cloudy for a week. And it became hilarious at Happiness Square of Tangde Garden in Tianhe District. Walking out of office, doctors of Guangzhou Fuda Cancer Hospital went into neighbor community for holding free clinic, spreading knowledge about how to prevent common disease and cancer, popularizing National Health Insurance Policy and facilitating residents to make FUDA as National Health Insurance fixed hospital.

Cardiovascular and kidney expert Liu Yang, director of pain management department Yang Qingfeng, director Cancer Prevention and Rehabilitation Center Dr. Li Jialiang and doctors from internal medicine department, traditional Chinese medicine department, gynecological department and stomatological department answered people’s health questions and provided medical advice patiently.

“Role model of the times”, chief president of Guangzhou Fuda Cancer Hospital Xu Kecheng also went to the site of free clinic and solved people’s problem about cancer prevention. In an interview with reporters of Guangdong TV Station and Guangzhou TV Station, he said that cancer has been the leading killer nowadays, but people still lack of awareness. Medical technology becomes more and more advanced. For example, except three conventional cancer treatments including surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy, there are cryoablation, nanoknife therapy (irreversible electroporation), immunotherapy etc. But these are just remedies. Taking preventive measures is the key.

Taking example for lung cancer, the No.1 killer, Xu Kecheng said, whether man or woman, morbidity and mortality of lung cancer is highest. Lung cancer prevention demands all man to quit smoking. Meanwhile, related departments of the government should take actions to improve air quality and reduce haze pollution. Besides, people should attach importance to screening for cancer prevention. Having treatment early makes difference on treatment effect.

In the afternoon of Mar 12, 2013, a donation ceremony was held in the 7th floor of our hospital for the donations from Mr. Wang Xinzhao to “Xu Kecheng Cancer-Research Fund”. In the very first of this year, Mr. Wang Xinzhao, chairman of Huasheng Electric Co. Ltd in Zhengzhou, Henan province, chanced upon the book “Telling the Truth to Cancer Patients” of professor Xu. After reading, he was deeply moved. He said that the time he spent on reading this book was much longer than what he spent on travelling. From this book, he found not only truths but also the power and spirit for cancer sufferers, as well as the hopes and encouragements for each cancer patient. He believed that every patient would get confident and positive to fight against tumors after reading this book. Despite several setbacks, he finally came from Shanghai to our hospital, attracted by Fuda hospital’s frame, finding that we are worthy of the reputation with great staffs. Suddenly he did feel at home, and become more confident to fight against tumors.

Mr. Wang is such an excellent entrepreneur. The company he established, Huasheng Medical Electric Co. Ltd, is one of the advanced taxpayers with high reputations in Zhengzhou, Henan province, which has won kinds of national and provincial recognition and prizes. At the same time, Mr. Wang himself has been also awarded respectively with the names of the Model of Managers, the Advanced Manager, the Outstanding Communist and the Outstanding Entrepreneur. In 1966, he was granted an interview by Chairman Mao after the National ceremony and was elected as a deputy to the National People's Congress.
